More great TV news...

Can I get a 'hell yeah'?!
FOX Wants '24' Times Two
(Tuesday, May 17 10:33 AM) LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com)
Stealing some of the thunder from networks with early upfront presentations, FOX reportedly has a deal in place to bring back "24" for two seasons, a move that would come fast on the heels of the third season renewal for "Arrested Development." Both shows come to the network from 20th Century Fox TV by way of Imagine Television.According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations between FOX and the studio over "24" were complicated by the producers' attempt to secure a higher license fee in order to handle the lofty production costs on the fourth year drama. There had been rumors that the lengthy discussions might allow another network -- possibly NBC -- to sneak in and steal the show. FOX held "24" off its fall schedule this past year in order to launch a repeat-free season beginning in January. The move has paid off in spades, as the Kiefer Sutherland series has averaged just under 12 million viewers per week, as particularly impressive achievement given the show's generally so-so lead-ins. The show is approaching a two-hour finale on Monday, May 23.A three-time nominee for outstanding drama series, "24" won the Golden Globe for best television series, drama, in 2004.FOX will announce its complete 2005-06 schedule on Thursday (May 19).

FOX DOES MORE TIME WITH "ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT," ORDERING A FULL THIRD SEASON
FOX gets ARRESTED again. The network has ordered a third full season of the Emmy Award-winning comedy series ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, it was announced today by Peter Liguori, President, Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. "ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is one of the best comedies on television. The decision to order another season becomes easy when you consider its amazing cast, creative brilliance, critical acclaim and advertiser appeal," said Liguori. "It's my first official pick-up since taking the job, and I think it's a great way to start." The critically acclaimed series revolves around Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman), the good son who must run the family business and continue to pick up the pieces as he keeps his offbeat family from falling apart. The comedy has featured guest appearances by numerous stars including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Liza Minnelli, Heather Graham and Ben Stiller. Last year, the show received five Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, Writing, Directing, Casting and Editing. Additionally, Jason Bateman won a Golden Globe for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role - Musical or Comedy Series and the show was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards for Outstanding Musical or Comedy Series. This past season, the cast was nominated for a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The show was also named an AFI Program of the Year and received the Critics' Choice Award for Best Comedy, among other accolades. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is produced by Imagine Television and 20th Century Fox Television. Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, David Nevins and Mitch Hurwitz are executive producers.
WOO-FUCKING-HOO!!!!!!
Ahem. This is absolutely stellar news. I was worried of the show's fate and am ecstatic that Peter Ligouri did this as his first act as FOX's new President.
CBS announces its fall schedule tomorrow, with FOX and UPN's upfronts scheduled for Thursday. I really hope How I Met Your Mother and The Unit are picked up at CBS, as Amy Acker is on The Unit and Alyson Hannigan is in the former. If FOX picks up Kitchen Confidential, then that'll make several former Angel/Buffy The Vampire Slayer cast members with new series on the air this fall (David Borenanaz is in FOX's Bones).

I watched the penultimate episode of Veronica Mars last night. WOW. The show brought tears to my eyes *and* managed to shock the hell out of me. The season finale rests lovingly on TiVo and I cannot wait to watch it. At least, thanks to UPN President Dawn Ostroff's kind show of support with an early renewal for the show, I can look forward to a brand new season in just a few months.
Well, I'm going to try to relax a bit before bed. My fucking ankle (and now back of my upper thigh) is killing me and I MUST get new shoes and/or see a podiatrist ASAP. I'll keep you informed.
Scrubs - The Complete First Season is on the way from TiVo. I've watched it only sporadically and I look forward to immersing myself in its quirky goodness.
Speaking of quirky, we have Clarissa Explains It All: The Complete First Season and The Adventures of Pete and Pete - The Complete First Season on DVD at work. They were both released today and I played both in the store. It was a lovely romp through memory lane, especially the demented genius that is Pete and Pete.
